The underlying theme behind the BH1 design takes inspiration from the Underground Railroad.The Underground Railroad was a network of secret routes and safe houses established in the United States during the early to mid-19th century. Each colorway of the BH1 is inspired by a person, place, event or something closely related to Black American Descendants of US Chattel Slavery.

 Our first colorway of the BH1, the Malcolm colorway, is inspired by the cover art for The Autobiography of Malcolm X as Told to Alex Haley.
